The right message on the right channel, every time.
Pharmin helps Irish pharmacies communicate with patients about their care — built from the ground up around the WhatsApp Business Messaging Policy.
One simple rule decides every message.
WhatsApp permits pharmacies to message about the administration of medical services — but not to promote or sell medicines, devices or healthcare products, and not to send personal health information. Pharmin enforces that boundary automatically, routing each message to a channel where it is allowed.
Service, not product
We message to arrange and administer clinical services. We never promote, recommend or sell a medicine, supplement or device on WhatsApp.
Logistics, not health data
WhatsApp messages carry appointment logistics only — no conditions, no medication names, no results, no diagnoses. Clinical detail moves to phone or a secure channel.
Consent, then contact
Every patient opts in by service category and can stop instantly. The pharmacy communicates under its own verified name; Pharmin provides the platform.
What goes where — and why.
Different channels carry different content so that each one stays inside its rules. This is the architecture every patient communication runs through.

How real pharmacy services run on Pharmin.
For each service, the appointment logistics travel on WhatsApp while the product, device or clinical detail is handled on the appropriate channel. Here is exactly what a patient receives.
Vaccination clinics
Flu, COVID-19, shingles and travel vaccinations delivered as a pharmacy clinical service.
Eligibility prompts, booking, confirmations and reminders"Your flu vaccination appointment is confirmed for Tue 9 Sep, 3:00pm."
Nothing required — vaccination is a service, with no product sold to the patient over messaging.
Why it's allowed: vaccination is administration of a medical service — the clearest permitted use under WhatsApp's medical-services scope.
Blood pressure monitoring
In-pharmacy blood pressure checks and a monitoring programme for patients who need regular readings.
Appointment booking, reminders and rebooking"Your blood pressure check is booked for Thu 11 Sep, 10:30am."
Monitor rental, fitting and payment — and any reading or result — handled in person or by phone.
Why it splits: the check is a permitted service, but a blood pressure monitor is a medical device, so rental and any device detail stay off WhatsApp. Messages never reference the patient's condition, age or medication — that's health data.
Stop-smoking support
One-to-one smoking cessation consultations and a structured support programme.
Session booking, reminders and programme follow-ups"Your stop-smoking session is confirmed for Mon 15 Sep, 2:00pm."
Any advice on, or supply of, nicotine replacement or cessation medication — discussed only in the consultation.
Why it splits: the support service is permitted, but nicotine replacement and cessation medicines are healthcare products and cannot be promoted or recommended over WhatsApp.
Dietitian follow-up after testing
A registered dietitian consultation following a health-screening or blood-test appointment.
Arranging and reminding the follow-up consultation"Your follow-up consultation is booked for Thu 18 Sep, 11:00am — we'll call you."
The consultation itself, and any reference to results, happen by phone or secure channel.
Why it splits: arranging the appointment is permitted, but a dietitian discussing results is telemedicine and health information — kept off WhatsApp. The reminder never mentions the test or the results, only the appointment.
The controls behind every message.
Compliance isn't a promise — it's enforced in how the platform is built and operated.
Category-specific opt-in
Patients consent to each type of message and can stop instantly by replying STOP. We don't contact anyone who hasn't opted in to that category.
Pre-approved templates
Every business-initiated message uses an approved template for its designated purpose. Free-form replies happen only inside the 24-hour service window after a patient writes to us.
No personal health information
WhatsApp messages never carry conditions, medication names, results or diagnoses. Campaigns are never targeted by health status. Clinical detail stays on phone or secure channels.
GDPR & data protection
A documented lawful basis and consent record sits behind every service, overseen by a Data Protection Officer, in line with Irish and EU requirements.
The pharmacy is the sender
Each pharmacy messages under its own verified business name and account, with its authorisation. Pharmin provides the platform — we never speak as another business.
Licensed & accountable
Services are delivered by registered pharmacies and healthcare professionals, with messaging confined to the permitted scope for each service.
What we never send on WhatsApp
Being explicit about the boundary is part of staying inside it. These never travel on WhatsApp under any circumstances:
